Tech, Talent, and Transformation: Leadership Circle Advances Child Welfare Reform

Experts from across the country have come together for a groundbreaking fellowship aimed at harnessing technology to support families and children involved in the child welfare system.

The inaugural Technology Leadership Circle (TLC) welcomes changemakers from across 12 jurisdictions, all united by a shared belief that technology may offer innovative new solutions to support those experiencing foster care.

The TLC builds on the momentum of the 2024 Fostering Futures Forum, co-hosted by Foster America and MIT. Held in May, the forum provided a platform for individuals with lived experience in foster care to brainstorm and propose technology-support ways to lessen the trauma of being involved with child protective services.

Now, TLC fellows are taking these transformative concepts further, working closely with peers, technologists, and Foster America faculty and staff to advance the innovations proposed at the forum. Over the course of this 10-month fellowship, participants are engaging in virtual programming, skill-building workshops, and collaborative sessions designed to turn ideas into actionable solutions.

The fellowship will culminate in an in-person convening, where fellows will refine their prototypes and showcase their progress to key stakeholders in the field.

Foster America is proud to offer this collaborative, learning-centered space that connects technology with community-driven solutions, empowering emerging leaders to drive meaningful change in child welfare.
