The Foster America team is deeply saddened by the loss of our board member and friend, Lola Adedokun.
Lola was one of Foster America’s earliest and fiercest supporters, a force for social justice who shared our vision for a transformed child welfare system. Lola propelled our progress – as she did for the countless causes she championed – and offered unwavering support and guidance to many changemakers along the way.
Lola’s contributions went far beyond our boardroom. As a true believer that leaders are the key to changing the world, she was a steadfast supporter of our mission to put people at the heart of systems transformation. Her work at the Aspen Global Innovators Group, the Doris Duke Foundation, and across many nonprofit boards was a testament to her lifelong commitment to equity and building healthier, more connected communities, globally and domestically.
Lola inspired us to uphold our ideals by living them – whether through her professional endeavors or her deep personal integrity. Her contributions to Foster America and the wider child welfare community were profound, and her legacy will live on in all of us whose lives she touched.
As we remember Lola’s remarkable life and legacy, Foster America extends our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. Her enduring influence will remain a guiding light in our work to create a more just and compassionate world for children and families.
