Courtney Franklin has worked for educational equity for more than 20 years as an educator and administrator in K-12 public schools, at the university level, and within the nonprofit sector. She helped establish a community-based charter school, Ceiba College-Prep, in Watsonville, California, serving as a founding teacher and dean on the leadership team. Most recently, she worked at Teach For America, where she was part of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning’s (CASEL) National Practitioner Advisory Group (NPAG) and the Student Experience Research Network’s (SERN) Sense of Belonging Working Group. Courtney lives in northern California with her partner of 20 years and their cat, Peppermint, who adopted them two years ago. When not working, she spends her time writing, painting, making textile art, and gardening.
